New Year… New Decade! Is your business headed in the right direction?
Once you know the answer to this question, it’s important to make sure you have the right people in place to help you achieve your business strategy/goals.
I was at my weekly networking breakfast this morning and it wasn’t surprising to hear people talking about reviewing “where their company is at” or “where it’s heading”. It’s a great time for an annual review and, let’s face it, a company who doesn’t regularly check in to make sure their strategy still works will find, at some point, that they start lagging behind their competitors.
We wrote a few weeks ago about “restructuring the right way”. Restructuring is often how you change role/s in your company to ensure your people align to the direction your company is moving in and ensure you stay true to your company strategy.
However, there are other ways to get the right people in the right roles. Maybe you have the right people in place, but they don’t have the right skills. Could they be upskilled? Or, could
one of them be better suited in a different role? I once helped a client recruit a manager, but the right person came along, who had very little people management skills, but obviously
shared the client’s values and passion. My client took a leap of faith, hired him with a solid training and coaching plan in place. He is thriving now.
