Human Rights and Employment
You will probably be well aware of employees taking personal grievances. But it appears that you should be even more concerned to avoid the rish they take you to the Human Rights Tribunal. Two recent Tribunal cases have awarded $168,000 and $45,000 for breaches of privacy and racial harassment respectively.
And it may not be you that causes it - it may a manager you employ. So sure are you that none of your employees could claim they were subject to racial harassment (or sexual harassment)? And are you sure that private information relating to your staff is properly protected? Did you even know that your staff could take a claim to either the Employment Relations Authority or the Humnan Rights Tribunal?
